NFL Week 9 Nasty Under Dog Picks

Week 9 Underdog Picks

Carolina Panthers +10.5 at Kansas City Chiefs

The bloom is off the rose of the Carolina Panthers, as they have dropped their last three games and now head into Arrowhead to face the powerhouse Chiefs. The Panthers are hoping that running back Christian McCaffrey will return this week and he should give the offense a boost. It may not matter, as the Chiefs have been rolling with an offense that looks unstoppable with Patrick Mahomes leading the way. The Panthers appear to be overmatched on both sides of the ball, and the public will be backing the Chiefs. We’ll take the Panthers as an ugly dog.

Jacksonville Jaguars +7 vs. Houston Texans

The Jaguars have been a disaster since early in the season, as they have lost their last six games. It is so bad that they are actually a seven-point home dog against a Houston team that has just one win. The Jaguars are without starting quarterback Gardner Minshew, so it will be rookie Jake Luton getting the start on Sunday. There is nothing to indicate that the Jaguars are going to be competitive with a rookie quarterback and the public is all over the Texans. We’ll take the Jaguars plus the points as an ugly dog.

Dallas Cowboys +14 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

It doesn’t get much uglier than this one, as the Cowboys are getting two touchdowns at home against the unbeaten Steelers. The Cowboys are changing quarterbacks yet again, as Andy Dalton is out with COVID-19 and rookie quarterback Ben DiNucci was so bad last week against the Eagles that he is being benched. DiNucci was completely in over his head and looked like a quarterback who belongs in another league. The Cowboys are going to start Garrett Gilbert or Cooper Rush in this game. Either of those options can’t be any worse than DiNucci, but it still looks bad for a Dallas team that is playing an unbeaten Pittsburgh team. We’ll take the Cowboys plus the points as an ugly dog.

New York Jets +7 vs. New England Patriots

The Jets are the worst team in the league and they are getting points at home in this game against the Patriots. New York has yet to win a game this season, but this game might actually be one of their best chances to get a win. The Patriots are no longer a great team and in fact, they are not even a good team. Head coach Bill Belichick even admitted this week that the team sold out to win Super Bowl titles and they are now paying the price. The Patriots have more talent on both sides of the ball than the Jets, but the margin is much closer than in the past.

Cam Newton is not a good quarterback and the Patriots are missing a multitude of players on both sides of the ball. There are serious questions about the Patriots, but they are still in better shape than the Jets. It is hard to make any case for taking a New York team coached by Adam Gase. The public is still going to go against the Jets this week because they are winless. This is not as ugly as in past weeks, but the Jets are still bad and still an ugly dog.
